CMU benchmarks at BSU

With its aim to offer a Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics (MSND), five faculty members from the Central Mindanao University (CMU) College of Human Ecology, headed by Department of Nutrition and Dietetics Chairperson Allene Mae N. Marapao, held a benchmarking activity at the Benguet State University earlier today, August 17, 2023.
Specifically, they came to visit the College of Home Economics and Technology Department of Human Nutrition (DHN) and learn from the best practices of the University on MSND offering.
CMU is considering offering advanced studies in Nutrition and Dietetics, which will cater to the growing demand for nutrition and dietetics in Mindanao.
The CMU team first paid a courtesy visit to the Office of the University President, where they were warmly welcomed by the Finance Division Chief Administrative Officer Atty. Andres Arnold W. Lampacan.
During their discussion at the Strawberry Hall, inquiries from the visitors regarding the BSU's nutrition and dietetics program were accommodated by the CHET-DHN Chairperson, Ms. Daisy T. Viray, and other faculty members from DHN. Among the shared initiatives and best practices in the said program were curriculum development, facilities, program accreditation, and student scholarships.
When the visitors solicited recommendations from the BSU team in their plan to offer MSND, Ms. Viray suggested strengthening available resources and ensuring of completeness of documents needed in the proposal preparation for the program.
Afterward, the visitors had a tour of the University's income-generating projects, such as the Food Processing Center, Bakery, and Marketing Center. They also learned from the best practices of the BSU DEMO (Demonstrating Effective Modalities on Organic Agriculture) Project of the Office of Extension Services and visited the organic farms, facilitated by Science Research Assistant Mr. Lambert P. Atas.
